In the 1950s Vance Packard wrote "The Hidden Persuaders". This book explained how the subliminal use of colour in advertising images can influence our perception of products and their desirability. Numerous studies since have corroborated these concepts. Every one of us is influenced by colour whether we realise it or not. In this exhibition I have created a number of photographic images using digital manipulation to highlight or alter the colours that the viewer sees. This may change the way they relate to the photo in front of them. What colours do they really see in the world........ Artist Statement: So how does colour affect what we see. We are all influenced by colour. We see colour every day and recognize that many exciting aspects of our world are perceived by the colours we view. How many times do you marvel at the spectacle of a sunburst through grey drab clouds on rainy days? Everyone loves the memorable moment when you are witness to a beautiful sunset or to be awakened by a striking sunrise. The beauty of a mountain view, with the breathtaking palette of colour that nature provides in her natural form. The cool and welcoming embrace generated by the spectacular greens in a forest of trees. The vista of an ocean view with its endless blue and the movement of waves creating ever changing hues is unparalleled. Plus, the vibrant reds, golds and browns created in the desert shimmering through infinite open outback districts. And don’t forget the sky. We all marvel at the night sky with the incredible sight of the Milky Way. The black velvet of a moonless night sky and the bursts of colour that few are lucky to see when they witness the borealis. As humans, we love colour. Photos of the event |

Artists from all parts of the planet, from all cultures and through a variety of media, have responded with their own unique expressions of loss and disconnection, peace and solitude, fear and anxiety. These responses are part of the submission to the danger presented by Corona 19 , the questions that have surfaced, the cry for connections during isolation. Others have taken precious moments of stillness to engage in self-discovery and search for personal revelations through the quiet and peace of reflection. Artists are working on the front line, fighting for meaning, creating for calm, thinking for change and reforming for a new future. Their work creates a path to meaning, an act of resistance and a call to action once the doors open again and the social world begins to gather pace again.
